MY EDC AND WHY

EDC, or Every Day Carry, is a term that saturates prepper and survivalist media. EDC is inclusive of all of the items that we as individuals deem essential enough to carry on our person everyday, without exception. Below is a breakdown of a personal EDC with brief descriptions of why they are carried.

  1. COLD STEEL RECON 1 CLIP POINT FOLDING KNIFE. A 4in folding pocket knife goes everywhere I go. The uses for a quality blade are many. Cold Steel makes awesome blades. The quality and craftsmanship is excellent and very dependable. The weight is low, the edge super sharp, and the lock rock solid.

  2. SMITH & WESTON STYLUS TACTICAL PEN. Carrying a pen makes so much sense, why not make it multi-functional. Glass breaker, stylus for tablets, smart phones, touch screens. Quick ruler. Last resort defensive weapon. Made from CNC Machined T6061 Aircraft Aluminum, this pen will last longer than you. Ink is refillable.

  3. ZIPPO LIGHTER A lighter goes a long way in many different situations. Fire is essential. Find the lighter that meets your preferences and carry it with you everywhere.

  4. GERBER 47550 NEEDLE-NOSE MULTI-PLIER 600. A tool easily carried on my belt. It has a slim profile and is discreet. Everything you need; multiple screw driver heads, saw, knife, openers, picks, and needle nose pliers. Goes everywhere, does almost anything, built like all Gerber products.

  5. FENIX FX-PD35TAC FLASHLIGHT. A Tactical flashlight can serve many different roles. Light can be a weapon, and this one puts out a blinding beam. 5 different light strengths, and strobe. Can be firearm and helmet mounted. Again, small and discreet. Comes with a belt pouch. Fists easily in a pant pocket.

  6. GERBER SHARD. Attached to a key ring. A 5-in-1 multi-tool . 3 screw drivers, mini pry, opener, punch force multiplier.

  7. LOCK PICK RAKES. A slim low profile kit that combines a selection of rakes and picks. Lock picking is a handy skill to have. In a true down and out / TEOTWAWKI / SHTF scenario, many locks may be left behind barring access to your survival. Knowing how to get into these places could be a game changer for you and your family.

  8. WATERPROOF NOTEBOOK. A notebook gives an analogue means to record data. Locations of resources, notes and ideas, leave a message, draw a map, write down grid coordinates. Endless uses. Keep the phone at home.

  9. RIDGE TITANIUM GUNMETAL WALLET. A built tough wallet that accommodates all of your chip cards, keeping them safe from being scanned remotely. In the words of Ridge Wallet….

”Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) is the use of radio waves to read and capture information stored on a tag attached to an object. A tag can be read from up to several feet away and does not need to be within direct line-of-sight of the reader to be tracked. All of our wallets block RFID with the two aluminum inner plates.”

    Nothing else to say.

  10. MOUTHGUARD. A mouthguard is easy to carry, fitting almost any pocket. Kept as acknowledgement or anticipation of maybe having to fight. When faced with confrontation, pulling out a mouth guard and having your opponent see this sends a clear message. It says that you are prepared to fight, that you know what you are doing, and that you are going to give them a hell of a time. Keep your teeth, they don’t grow back.

  11. SUUNTO ALPHA TRAVERSE. A tactical watch that does so much. Compass, GPS, physical training aid, alarm, chronometer, storm alert, barometer, altimeter, sunrise, sunset, 24 hour clock, step counter, tracks my shots when I hunt, creates a bread crumb trail when I hike…..++++ so much more. Easy to charge, long battery life. Suunto Finnish quality.
