How many on-going hot wars are happening right now around the world? “Hey siri, how many wars are active today?”
How many nations of the world have a government that you trust? How many are ruled by authoritarian regimes, dictators, one party, generals, juntas, presidents, or monarch? How much power do you feel you have against this class?
How much is a tank of gas costing you? Oil is a global commodity. We all compete for it to run our industry. Oil is not going anywhere yet. We are all still dependendent on it. The trucking industry is dependendent on it. The shipping industry is still burning the most polluting form of oil, bunker fuel. More transport fees passed on to families struggling to keep up. When was the last time anything ever went down in price?
The world powers are re-arming with nuclear weapons. The original club of atomic armed states, USA, Russia, UK, France, China today, now includes India, Pakistan, North Korea, Israel and probably soon, Iran. One has the feeling that the recipe is not as secret anymore. States, as well as individuals, need to seriously consider life post nuclear event. This will happen. More to come on this topic..
The environment is going crazy, like a flashing red light. How many of these terms have you ever heard: derecho, humidity river, heat dome? These are ways that weather is being explained to people. New terms for a changing world. The real consequences violent wind storms, high heat related deaths. Hotter world, more fires. Just ask Australians. Flash, and seasonal flooding. British Columbia, Manitoba. Hurricanes now start earlier in the year and stay longer than previously. Tornados are new in many places. The climate has changed, and will continue to do so. Sea water will keep rising, accelerating by polar ice melts. As the sea ice retreats new sea access will lead to fresh territorial disputes over resources. Who will catch the last ocean fish?
What happens to life in the neighbourhood as the world starts to go hungry?Global fisheries have collapsed taking with it the primary protein source for the majority of the people who live on earth. Drought and war have created crop shortages not see at this population point in our collective history. Millions will starve. Wars will be fought for food. And water…
Sovereign states have backed their entire financial systems on debt; promises to repay. Future generations will never have it as good. The quality of life is declining. With a higher cost of life - fuel, food, housing - people spend less, causing the economy to retract. More pain as investors see rising losses. Wages are not keeping up to inflation. People are hungry, loosing their homes. The solution is to help the people or to let them suffer. Help costs money, more promises, more debt.
The world is on a track that goes one way. A monumental global collective effort will be required to alter this. Given the greed of our species, hope is low. You can feel it, despair, evil times are about, evil strikes good. Do what you can now to prepare, then help others to do the same. Become aware of your world. Time is limited.
